Emil Wendel

Emil was born in Switzerland and has been living in Asia since the mid-seventies, studying Sanskrit and Indian Dharma on the Subcontinent, as well as Chinese Philosophy and Taoism in East Asia.

His long residency of 25 years in India and Nepal has allowed Emil an exceptional insight into the depth of Indian civilization and its philosophical current.

Today, Emil is predominantly conducting courses for yoga teacher training programs, covering the subjects of Pranayama, guided meditation, ritual and Yoga philosophy. The latter is a series of lectures encompassing the known history, the different disciplines and traditions, and the personalities and masters of Yoga.

In his own workshops and retreats, Emil advocates and teaches philosophy in conjunction with Hatha-Kundalini Yoga, a method of merging Asanas, Pranayama, Mantra and Mudra to develop and deepen a yogic practice beyond the mere physical experience. The result is found in a spontaneous state of dhyana, still meditation. Emil currently holds such workshops and retreats in various countries of Europe, as well as in India, Bali, Singapore, Thailand, Australia and Japan. His detailed schedule can be seen on his website www.beyond-the-asana.com.
