Continuing Education
Like our daily Yoga practice, teaching Yoga is a constantly changing and evolving experience. We must remain continuously aware and alert, responding to new experiences as they arise. Indeed, each experience is unlike any experience before.
The Continuing Education programs are intended for Yoga teachers and/or those students who have already completed a Teacher Training Course who are interested in expanding their knowledge and experience or improving their teaching skills.
Four programs are being offered: Yoga Philosophy, Integrated Asana Technique and Teaching Skills, Anatomy and Physiology, and Special Needs and Approaches to Injury Management.
Yoga Philosophy – 20 hours
This is a unique opportunity to join Emil Wendel on a captivating journey in the philosophy of Yoga. Emil will bring to life many of the most fundamental questions of our existence that have engaged Yogis for thousands of years. These questions of existence and the teachings that sprung from them remain highly relevant to us today as Yoga practitioners seeking to understand how Yoga can work and help us in our lives. See Course Curriculum for more information.
Teacher: Emil Wendel
Classes: 5 classes of 4 hours each

Integrated Asana Technique and Teaching Skills – 21 hours
In these workshop-style classes, we will explore a full spectrum of asana, their technique and teaching skills. In our Integrated Learning approach, we will bring together fundamental knowledge and skills from various disciplines including asana and pranayama technique, teaching methodology, philosophy, and ethics.
Topics covered will include: alignment, prop usage, safety and the enhancement of health benefits, teaching skills, modifications, adjustments, and adaptation to individual needs.
Some examples of classes include:
· Standing poses and the muscles of the legs and hips
· Twisting postures and the health of internal organs
· Inversions and the endocrine and nervous systems
Teachers: Reni Chang and Chris Kummer
Classes: 12 classes of 1.75 hours duration
Tuition Fee: 3780 RMB
Anatomy and Physiology – 14 hours
Yoga is a practice of awareness. Understanding the components of the body that are moved in asana practice every day (anatomy) and its movement possibilities (physiology) increases the ability to practice and teach with confidence and safety. In a hands-on approach a deeper understanding of bodily systems and their functions is explored step-by-step. The framework of bones and joints comes to life by understanding muscles, their actions and their use in Yoga. Learn how to maximize your energy levels by using the lungs and respiratory system, and how to bring more balance into your life by influencing the nervous system’s interactions. These classes are fun, dynamic and experiential and presented in the context of Yoga practices and postures.
Teacher: Chris Kummer
Classes: 7 classes of 2 hours duration
Tuition Fee: 2500 RMB
Special Needs & Approaches to Injury Management
Yoga is therapeutic when applied intelligently to support the individual. On the other hand, Yoga can be harmful when the individual is ignored and Yoga is applied in a “one-size-fits-all” approach. This series will introduce and explore how Yoga practise can be used to support the unique characteristics of each individual. In our Integrated Learning approach, we will draw from various disciplines including asana and pranayama technique, teaching methodology, philosophy, and ethics.
